Autism

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by impairments in social interactions or communication, as well as restricted repetitive patterns of behaviors or interests. There are three levels of autism: mild or high-functioning autism, moderate autism, and severe autism. Each individual experiences ASD in a unique way. This condition presents in children and adults; however, symptoms begin during childhood. Individuals with mild autism can speak in full sentences, engage in communication, and attempt to form friends; however, they experience difficulties with social interactions. For this reason, most patients with mild autism develop Camouflage Skills to fit in and appear less autistic. This has resulted in misdiagnoses and poor outcomes for this population.

In One More Light, we provide diagnostic evaluations for adults and children as well as therapy or medication as needed to cope with ASD symptoms.
